Bosch SHP65DM5N

For a conventional 24-inch opening, the current Zone Wash 500 Series is our research-based starting recommendation. It combines an adjustable upper rack, a utensil tray and automatic door-opening drying.

AutoAir releases the door during drying. That makes its installation position worth considering in a narrow walkway or a home where a partly open door would be inconvenient.

Choose this SHP65DM5N for the newer Zone Wash and Deep Clean features. The older SHP65CM5N has a different wash system and flexible third rack; compare the actual features and installed quotes rather than treating them as identical.

The 800 Series adds CrystalDry. Compare it if plastic drying is a priority, and check your dishes in the racks before committing to either machine.

Why consider it

  • Automatic drying-door release
  • Adjustable upper rack and separate utensil tray
  • Zone Wash focus area and Deep Clean cycle

Consider before buying

  • Some extra options require Home Connect
  • No integrated water softener
  • Door opens during AutoAir drying

Contents & use

  • Power cord, pre-connected drain hose and toe-kick; cabinet protective guard shown in specification.
  • Water supply kit and hardwire junction box are optional extras.

Before you buy

  • Allow room for the automatic door opening.
  • Check cabinet moisture protection and the installation manual.
  • Compare the installed quote with the 800 Series before buying.

When the 500 Series is the sensible stopping point

Choose this 500 Series when automatic door-opening drying and its rack arrangement solve the main problems with your current machine. The 800 Series comparison should start with whether CrystalDry and the flexible third rack are useful enough to justify your actual installed-price difference. A higher series number alone is not a reason to spend more.

Neither of these two reviewed models has an integrated water softener. If that is essential for your water conditions, comparing only their drying features misses the real requirement. For the 500, also consider the position of the released door: an otherwise convenient installation may be awkward beside a walkway. Confirm the required cabinet protection and opening clearances before purchase.

Compare before you choose

Choose the 500 for AutoAir and its loading arrangement; compare the 800 for CrystalDry and its flexible third rack. This is a feature comparison, not a measured cleaning ranking.
